DJ Sigurður

Originally a classically trained pianist, Sigurður came in contact with the jazz music of Django Reinhardt as a teenager in his hometown in the north of Iceland and instantly fell in love. Jazz, and especially swingin’ jazz and its striding New Orleans predecessor, has since been a major part of his life.

Acknowledging that the notion of swing music without dancing is as ridicolous as the idea of a fly whithout its wings, it was only after he stumbled into a Lindy hop beginners class that he really started growing his swing wings.

Using his experience as a performer, his fresh but growing knowledge of the dance, and his endless passion for swing music, he feels naturally at home creating the atmosphere for the dancefloor. Sigurður began DJing in his home scene in Reykjavik, formed a seven-piece swing band a little later and established and organized Iceland's winter swing festival, Lindy on Ice. This is his second year at Autumn Hop.
